Frequently asked questions

Will my text still be selectable?

Yes, with Low and Recommended. Only the images are recompressed; text, fonts, links and vector graphics are kept. Strong turns every page into an image, so text can then no longer be selected or searched.

How much smaller will my PDF get?

Scans and PDFs with many photos often shrink by 50–90%. PDFs that are mostly text are usually small already and change little.

Which level should I choose?

Recommended (150 dpi images) looks good on screens and in e-mail. Low keeps images sharper for printing. Strong is for when the file must be as small as possible.

What does “Target size” do?

It tries settings from the sharpest to the smallest and keeps the best one that fits under your limit, for example 1 MB for an upload form.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Compression happens in your browser, so your PDFs never leave your device.
