How to use PDF to Word

  1. Drop one or more PDF files onto the page.

  3. Click “Convert to Word” and open the DOCX in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice.

Frequently asked questions

Will it look exactly like my PDF?

With “Editable text” you get the text with its paragraphs, headings, bold/italic, sizes and line breaks, one Word page per PDF page — but fonts, columns, tables and pictures are not rebuilt, so the layout is simpler than the PDF. “Keep layout” looks exactly like the PDF because every page becomes a picture, which you cannot edit as text.

What about tables and multi-column pages?

Table cells come out as text separated by spaces, and text in columns side by side is read line by line across the page. For tables, try “PDF to Excel”.

My PDF is a scan. Does it work?

A scan contains pictures of text, not text, so “Editable text” finds nothing. Use “Keep layout”, or run text recognition (OCR) first.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser; the PDF never leaves your device.
