Frequently asked questions

Which languages can it read?

English and Hindi (Devanagari). Choose “Both” for documents that mix the two.

How do I get the best results?

Use a sharp, well-lit picture taken straight on, with the text at least 20 pixels tall. Small pictures are enlarged automatically before reading.

What does the confidence mean?

It is the engine’s own average certainty for the words it found. Above 80% the text is usually right; below 55% check it carefully.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser. The engine and language data (about 5 MB) are downloaded once and then cached.

Can I get a searchable PDF instead?

Yes — OCR PDF adds the recognised text to a scanned PDF as an invisible layer, so the PDF itself becomes searchable.
