Frequently asked questions

How secure is it?

The file is encrypted with AES-256, the strongest encryption PDF supports. A long password that is hard to guess matters most.

What if I forget the password?

It cannot be recovered — not by us either, because the password never leaves your device. Keep a copy of the original file.

What is the permissions password?

It allows changing the printing, copying and editing restrictions. If you leave it empty, a random one is used, so nobody can lift them.

Do restrictions work in every viewer?

Mainstream viewers respect them, but they are an instruction to the viewer, not encryption. Only the open password truly protects the content.
