Redact PDF
Share documents without names, account numbers or other private details. Unlike a black rectangle drawn on top, redaction here removes what is underneath: pages with boxes are rebuilt as pictures with the boxes burnt in.

How to use Redact PDF
- Drop the PDF onto the page.
- Draw boxes over what must disappear, or type a word and click “Mark all matches”.
- Click “Redact and download”. The result is checked: no text is left on the redacted pages.
Frequently asked questions
Is the hidden text really gone?
Yes. Every page with a box is replaced by a picture of that page with the boxes painted in, and the old text, fonts and images of those pages are dropped from the file. After saving, the tool checks that no text can be found on those pages any more.
What happens to the other pages?
Pages without boxes stay as they are, with selectable text. If the same detail appears on them, redact it there too — “Mark all matches” searches every page.
What else is removed?
Links, comments and form fields on the redacted pages, the document’s accessibility tags (they can repeat text) and, if you choose, the title, author and keywords. Bookmark titles are kept, so check them if they contain private details.
Can I still search the redacted pages?
No — they are pictures now. That is the price of a safe redaction.
